Humm Sensei visits Italy

The Kendo dojo "Makoto" celebrated its anniversary with a seminar by Sensei Jeff Humm This important seminar of Kendo (Japanese fencing) was held on the 14th and 15th of February with Sensei Jeff Humm, sixth Dan Renshi and already an important British man in various roles. In fact, Sensei Humm has been the spearhead of the English team for many years and when he withdrew from competitive activity he became trainer of the national team (which includes male and female members). Subsequently, he took on the role of team manager of the same team and now he prefers to distance himself from official commitments in order to dedicate himself to two dojos which he has personally overseen for years, Hizen Dojo in London (his city of origin) and his "detached seat" so to speak, the Ao Take Kendokai Makoto of Trieste.Kendoka's instructor is Elisabetta Garboni, who studied the practice of Kendo with Sensei Humm for many years in England. Sensei Humm continues to follow his student. In Italy as well, at least once a year, either through Kendo seminars in Trieste or any others organised by Ao Take Kendokai Makoto: such as "First Trophy of the Coastal City of Lignano", which was held in June 2002 in a location near the seaside and has seen a great number of participants coming from many different Italian cities. On this occasion, Sensei Humm held a seminar with great success and the subsequent day he refereed the tournament. Sensei Jeff Humm was born in London 41 years ago and has practiced martial arts since he was a child, collecting various dan (grades) in lots of disciplines, such as Judo, Aikido, Iaido, Kyudo and of course, Kendo in which he is one of the most prestigious exponents at European level.

The seminar was held in the Markoto gym of Androna Camp and had particular importance because it had another purpose and that was to celebrate the anniversary, which fell in the year just concluded, of 20 years since the foundation of Kendo Ao Take Kendokai dojo, the first in Trieste. So, it was a great celebration with great competitors.
